| About Us
Our founder, Chet Young, started the Space Coast Miata Club in 1989. Space Coast Miata Club was the second club to officially organize in the United States and is located in Brevard County on the east coast of Central Florida. Chet was motivated to organize the Club because he recognized that the members would all share a common interest, if not love, for their Miatas! We have a club membership at present of about 150 members which includes some single folks as well as married couples, some of whom are young parents, baby boomers reliving their youth, and retirees who just want to have fun and meet others.
Our Club’s goal is to sponsor driving events that offer interesting and diversified destinations, most always including a meal, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food, particularly Dairy Queen, seems to be the second most important love of the members next to their Miatas, of course. Some events are repeated annually like our Miata Mystery Weekend. This is an event that has everyone packing a bag and bound for an unknown destination. Only the organizer of the event knows what that destination is and the others find out as the day progresses. Each year the Mystery Weekend brings out the most adventurous drivers! In addition, annually we have a dinner meeting in January to introduce the new club officers, a repeat drive-out which originated the first year of the Club, and a picnic in the spring, which is a family event that includes children and a Thanksgiving in August dinner. Other events are “spur of the moment” and some are just preplanned day trips, and an occasional tech session is organized for tire kicking and car talk! Please keep in mind that you don’t have to own a Miata to belong to our Club. Just an interest in friendship, good conversation and food are required. Take a moment to meet our officers and see what our membership involves and let us hear from you.
